Este artista coruñés es uno de los autores más reconocidos e importantes del mundo del cómic. Desde principios de los años ochenta viene deslumbrando con sus trabajos, cuya calidad y repercusión han ido en progresión, extendiéndose más allá del propio cómic, abarcando la ilustración, la pintura, la animación convencional, etc. Su trabajo ha recorrido el mundo entero, haciéndose merecedor de múltiples premios. “De Profundis” no es su primera experiencia audiovisual, destacando su participación en la serie de animación “Men in Black” producida por Steven Spielberg.
Miguelanxo y Maritimus preparándose para la entrevista
Maritis: Perdona que te diga, amigo, pero a mí tu peli me parece que es algo así como haber agitado unas pinturillas…
Miguelanxo: Sí, es una pequeña venganza. Animando, uno se harta del cansancio de tener que mover las cosas, pero puedes creerme que agitar algo durante cuatro años también acaba cansando.
Maritis: ¡Hostiaaaa! ¿Qué me estás contando? Esa respuesta suena un poco pajillera, amigo.
Miguelanxo: Es que estas historias son grandes pajas mentales. O lo que sacas es mucha pasta o mucho gusto.
Maritis: Jorl! Dos respuestas y ya está usted hablando de prostitución… Pero, pero, centrémonos en lo del gustillo, porque en esta peli es algo que, en fin, entre el músico, Nani García, y usted, vamos, que habéis estado haciéndoos la pajilla a dos manos…
Miguelanxo: Exactamente. Tiene ese encanto de las cosas compartidas al mismo tiempo que cada uno conserva su autonomía. Allá cada cual con su paja mental, si bien el músico siempre tiene la ventaja de usar las dos manos, yo, desgraciadamente, incluso para dibujar no soy ambidiestro.
Maritis: "Trazo de Tiza", "De Profundis", ¿por qué el título de todas tus obras tienen esa indiscutible referencia al mundo de la dronga?
Miguelanxo: No había reparado en esa conexión, debe ser la conexión gallega, sin duda. Acaba impregnándolo todo.
Maritis: Ya metidos en harinas, reconóceme que "De Profundis" es un relajante, tipo hachís, heroína, opio, vamos, un derivado de la adormidera.
Miguelanxo: Bah, es droga blanda, de colocón.
Maritis: Sí, sí, yo me coloqué enseguida, Vamos, me quedé sobao media película.
Miguelanxo: Bueno, ya sabes, la reacción a los estupefacientes de cada individuo es diferente. Si "De Profundis" sirve para echar una cabezadita igual es que ésa es una vía de comercialización: balnearios, reposo para ejecutivos estresados. Imagínate, se puede incluso hacer una terapia de choque combinándola con "La Crisis Carnívora". Sería como una sesión de duchas de agua fría y agua caliente.
Maritis: Un error así que veo en la película es que no salgo yo. Coño, soy un oso polar, también me meto en el agua (de vez en cuando).
Miguelanxo: En una "Quotidianía Delirante" sí que te veo, por ahí circulan bastantes hijos de puta, pero aquí en "De Profundis", creo que desentonarías. Pero claro, lo de la Quotidianía sería pagando tú, claro. Eso es querer acaparar, eres como Amancio Ortega, el de Zara.

Maritis: Eeeh… Oye, en confianza, ¿qué problema tuviste en tu infancia, en tu educación o en tu entorno familiar, para que estando contratado en los U-S-A, te escapases? ¿Qué parte de "lo importante es la pasta" no entendiste?
Miguelanxo: No escapé, dejé que me pagaran. Idealista sí, pero tonto no. Pero, vamos, era una decisión que tenía fácil. Si con las historias muermos no pudiera pagarme los garbanzos igual no sería tan idealista y me iría a los U-S-A, pero en aquel momento no me compensaba una apuesta única y definitiva. Tampoco es una puerta que dé por cerrada para el futuro. ¿A ti no te gustaría ir?
Maritis: Hombre, claro, allí no hay más que hijos de puta. De hecho, ya he tramitado la solicitud de la nacionalidad.
Miguelanxo: Por eso, ibas a estar en tu ambiente.
Maritis: Sí, sí, pero volviendo a lo tuyo. Has publicado tebeíllos por todas partes, has trabajado para los U-S-A, ¡cobrando!, no como el resto de los países occidentales… y ahora, con "De Profundis", has hecho lo que se te ha salido de los huevos. ¿Qué más te queda por hacer?
Miguelanxo: Primero ponerte una denuncia por todo lo que te vas a inventar. Luego, siempre quedan pajas, trazos, rayas nuevas. Vamos, siempre hay cubos donde meter la cabeza.
Maritis: Joder, una analogía anual. Es usted el puto amo.

Maritis: ¿Estarías dispuesto a hacer una nueva peli? No sé "La Crisis Carnívora 2", algo en lo que yo esté en el reparto, por supuesto…
Miguelanxo: Para un nuevo proyecto pensaría en contar con más gente para agitar los cuadros. Es muy cansado hacerlo solo. Y, seguramente, para cambiar de aires, intentaría divertirme más que disfrutar. Moviendo los cuadros disfruté mucho pero ahora no estaría muy dispuesto para un trabajo así. Preferiría divertirme, no tendría que ser necesariamente una historia de humor, pero sí algo más ligerito.
